Movie Review | Pacific Rim: Uprising

Image
I saw Pacific Rim: Uprising a few weeks ago and I must say for an action movie it was great. Without spoiling anything I can tell you that the plot actually somewhat picked up where the first Pacific Rim ended, but just over a decade later. The fighting scenes with the giant monsters aka "Kaiju" vs the giant robots called "Jaegers" were great, the CGI was incredible and watching it in 3D was a blast (literally). I recommend watching this movie while you still can. My rating is 7/10.

Port Saint Joe

Brothers Osborne’s new album, Port Saint Joe , cuts across every fence trying to pen music up. The opening cut, Slow Your Roll , kicks off with John Osborne’s free jazz runs up and down his guitar frets, inviting us into the spacious rooms of the rest of the album. The gentle murmur of the Gulf lap over Osborne’s guitars before TJ’s vocals lead into a funky shuffle that urges us to slow down and “take a little break from the rat race/Pour a little heaven on ice … The Lord’s been talking through the weather/A Sunday sermon in a sundown sky/Don’t think I could say it any better/So, I think I’m gonna take that advice.” In the propulsive rocker of a breakup song, Shoot Me Straight , the singer begs his lover to give him no shit about the breakup: “Make it burn the whole way down/Lay my 6 foot 4 inch ass out on the ground/Yeah, tomorrow I’ll have me one a hard hangover/And one hell of a heartache/So, pour a shot of whiskey/And shoot me straight.” John Osborne’s soaring lead riffs on the b

Southwest Flight 1380

Image
The recent accident of Flight 1380 has caused some ruckus in the aviation industry as of late, but Southwest Airlines seems to be moving on relatively quickly. They have already given all of the passengers $5,000 dollars and a $1,000 travel voucher. This was the first death of a passenger on a US Airline flight since 2009, and the very first for Southwest Airlines. This is a recording of the conversation between Flight 1380 and Air Traffic Control.

Yes Theory

Image
I have been a fan of Yes Theory for some time now. They are a group of guys from around the world that do things that are uncomfortable. In fact, their motto is "Seek Discomfort" and it is absolutely brilliant. It has actually helped me with my social anxiety to an extent. Granted I still can't go up to a random person and spark up a conversation. Baby steps right? Anyways, so Yes Theory is a pretty popular YouTube channel that has gained a lot of ground in the past few months. In the video below, they ask totally random people if they want to go skydiving with them. Some people actually say Yes and go on an adventure with them, as complete strangers. I think I would instantly say Yes if they came up to me asking to do something crazy. I want to seek discomfort.

Denver Road Trip - Spring Break 2018

Image
Initially I thought I wouldn't be doing anything for spring break (pathetic, I know) but then I asked my friend if he wanted to take a road trip to Denver Colorado. Surprisingly he agreed, and so we left on the first Sunday of spring break. The ride there was absolutely amazing, except for Nebraska which is as flat a pancake. We got to Denver at roughly 10 AM on Monday. That was when our adventure started. We went downtown for most of Monday, which was absolutely amazing. Everything is so new there, and plus Denver is also the capital of Colorado, so obviously we got to see capitol hill. Tuesday we hit up most of the museums and even the botanic gardens. That day was just great. There were so many things to do and so little time. On Wednesday we finally went up to the Rockies. We went to Evergreen Colorado for lunch, which was delicious. After that, we got stuck in snow at nearly 10,000 feet on a dirt road with no cell service. That was such a fuuuun time. :) On our last day, Thurs
